Workplace Menopause Champions
The immense value of workplace Menopause Champions is increasingly recognised for the crucial role they play in supporting employees through menopause. These champions are the ambassadors and mechanisms of positive change—the go-to individuals who drive initiatives and foster understanding. Whether called champions, trainers, allies, or buddies, they share the same mission with passion, empathy, and skill: helping others feel confident in supporting and guiding colleagues through menopause.
Why Menopause Champions Matter
Menopause Champions are vital in normalising conversations about menopause in the workplace. Typically, their role is voluntary, but menopause-specific training equips them to be even more effective. They become the trusted point of contact, working to embed a positive menopause culture within their organisations. By acknowledging menopause and addressing its unique challenges, they advocate and embed a supportive and inclusive environment that benefits everyone.
What Do Menopause Champions Do?
- Run workshops to raise awareness and educate employees.
- Communicate available support options and resources.
- Set up support groups to create safe spaces for discussion.
- Provide peer-to-peer and one-on-one support for those navigating menopause.
- Encourage openness about symptoms and experiences.
- Advocate for workplace improvements, such as environmental adjustments, manager training, or policy changes.
The Vision for the Future
Our vision is to see Menopause Champions become commonplace in organisations across all sectors driving inclusive cultures and enhancing employee wellbeing. To demonstrate their profound impact, we are delighted to share Jane’s inspiring story as a Menopause Champion.
Jane’s Story: A Champion’s Journey
“I’d just like to say how proud I am to have been a Menopause Champion. Participating in the calls, learning about menopause and menstruation, and supporting people at work and beyond has been incredibly liberating and empowering. Channelling our inner warriors (as we say in yoga!) and bringing that strength into the workplace to help others has been a privilege.
Being a Menopause Champion complemented my role as a Mental Health First Aider perfectly. Both focus on creating safe, supportive spaces for people to thrive. The network has been invaluable, keeping the training alive through opportunities to share ideas and hear from inspiring speakers. Attending these sessions, reading the chat—at times so heart-warming—and witnessing the collective dedication has been incredible.
I have learned so much. The diversity of organisations involved is amazing, and the masterclasses and range of presenters ensure ongoing development.
One final word from Jane……
“We need to mention menopause every day to normalise it!”
We couldn’t agree more. Jane’s journey illustrates the transformative power of Menopause Champions and the difference they make in the workplace and beyond.
